Dave Hector Accounting Group was formed in May 2002 and continued the former practice operated by Dave Powell before he sadly died in March 2002. Dave Hector had been working at Dave Powell’s practice and decided to purchase it because he wanted the challenge of branching out on his own and to secure the jobs of the existing staff.

The practice offers GST and taxation services, plus a full range of accounting services for businesses, partnerships and individuals, including payroll services and business development. A full bookkeeping and accounting team is available to bring your file up-to-date and assist with year-end preparation.

Dave’s guiding principle is to offer his clients a “value for money” service – a high standard of work, a friendly and personal approach and fees kept to a level which are fair to both parties. Our mission is to give people the opportunity to understand their businesses and to do more with their cash flow, while helping them to get back on track to meet their financial goals.

Dave Hector


DIRECTOR

After 9 years of working in an accounting practice, followed by 25 years with DB Breweries in an accounting / property management role, based both in Greymouth and Nelson, Dave joined what was then Dave Powell Chartered Accountant in 1999. Dave took over the practice in May 2002 and the name was changed to Dave Hector Accounting Group Limited. Over the years, Dave has built up an excellent rapport with our clients and offers a broad based level of expertise. He leads an enthusiastic and dedicated team of staff who are committed to providing an exceptional and personal service. Dave’s interests are golf, darts and bowls.

Rachel Flowers


ACCOUNTING / PAYROLL

Rachel worked for a local business for 12 years and has recently completed her Business Diploma at Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology. She joined Dave Hector Accounting Group in early 2009. She quickly became part of the team and is the person who liaises with IRD and ACC for the practice, as well as having general accounting and payroll involvement. Rachel’s young boys keep her busy with their sport. She also enjoys camping, running and orienteering.

Heather Peek


OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR / P.A.

Heather has emigrated from South Africa over 20 years ago and has two sons in their twenties. She has worked in the administration field over the years and recently completed a Small Business Management Course. Heather is the “front person” for the practice and also assists with administration, Companies Office requirements and accounting.

Rachael Woods


ACCOUNTANT

I returned from living in Australia in 2013, I am presently completing a Bachelor of Business majoring in accounting with Massey University. In my spare time, my interests include scuba diving, fishing and children’s sports on Saturday. I look forward to meeting and working with new and exciting clients in the ensuing year.

Chris Schurmann


ACCOUNTANT

Chris was born in Switzerland and migrated to New Zealand in 1984. He worked as an industrial electrician until 1999 when he decided to have a career change and started to study towards a degree. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Degree in February 2002 and has worked for two local chartered accountancy firms before joining Dave Hector Accounting Group Ltd. His interests include mountain biking, tramping and skiing.
